My name is Fran Muntz, I am Kiwi-born and raised and have dedicated my life to Beauty Cosmetics, Colour Analysis and Skincare.
My Career in the Skincare and Beauty industry began in 1965. This career started by attending several extensive courses training in Skincare, Cosmetology and Hairdressing, which lead to starting my first business 1966 and have been in the beauty business ever since.
It initially began in Invercargill with a Deportment and Modelling School, where I was able to use the initial skills learned, then introducing various beauty products and services, including an international product range of natural skincare, which I also promoted through its direct selling arm throughout New Zealand for 28 years.
The first range being Essentials:
Consisting of: Cleansing Milk, Cleansing Toner, Exfoliating Cleansing Milk, Microdermabrasion, Day Moisturiser and Retinol Anti-ageing Moisturiser
Followed by Beauty Bee® Bee Venom Mask and Day Cream.
Gentle, Pure Aromatherapy Essential Oils and Botanical Extracts. Made from naturally derived ingredients in New Zealand. Not Tested on Animals
Once we had our first two ranges of Skincare available, we felt the need for a complete Botanical range to complete the Natural Skin Care Story.
Hence, Natural by Dezine® Botanicals was born.
I could never have reached so many business associates or retail consumers with out having this direct selling opportunity and experience and truly got to understand the “customers” needs, be it ingredients, packaging, quality or price.
Arriving in Christchurch in 1999 after 18 years in Dunedin and enjoying all that went with the “Garden City” it all went horribly wrong in September 2010, when on the 4th of September Christchurch experienced a major earthquake and although centred 50km to the west, much damage was done throughout the city, however because of it being in the early hours of the morning, human activity on the streets was light.
Then,15 days after this earthquake we were advised that the owner of our US supply company, had died. We had a great association with him for 39 years and this came as another massive shock. With his death we lost our product supply line and license agreement for the Pacific and Australian region.
Then months later on Feb 22nd 2011, a massive earthquake shattered our city, (this time during lunch time, directly under the Port Hills, Just a few kilometres from the CBD) causing 185 deaths, with thousands injured, damaged buildings and infrastructure everywhere. Those first chaotic days following the earthquake were something else, spent salvaging what stock and plant we could, from the liquefaction that had poured into the ground floor of the building, then set like concrete and in the February heat, smelt like sewerage. The Beauty Training room also had liquefaction right through it, with lipsticks and beauty products floating… how heartbreaking.
Overwhelmed but undeterred by the loss of the commercial building in Ferrymead (it is still an empty lot!), we immediately transferred the business to “home base”, (which became the new norm in Christchurch), so we could continue to look after the consultants and customers, who had relied on us for so many years.
Not only did we lose the building and a lot of stock and plant, we also lost our phone number which we had since 1999! It went up into the wild blue yonder and the telcos could not retrieve it back, so a lot of people didn’t know where we were or if we were still in business. While the city was in rubble and not functioning, for us, no water, electricity or sewerage for two weeks plus, the business as we knew it probably was gone forever.
We decided to take that time to start afresh and established our own line of New Zealand-made, completely Natural Skin Care. I had been working on this prior to the earthquakes and spun the wheels to begin production so we could have products for our consultants and customers. This time, I wanted to have total control of the ingredients that created the formula and named the range Natural by Dezine®
My passion for Natural Skin Care was finally coming to fruition, having a range that I had complete control of the ingredients and be proud to call our own.
Initially, I worked with a Cottage Manufacturer, who was great in assisting this dream come true. After lots of trials on human volunteers, we were able to release our first range.

In 2018 I was invited to join hands with a Canadian Company as VP of Beauty Division Global which gave me the opportunity to work with a fantastic team of people to develop beautiful Naturally derived Skin Care products which we have exported to many countries around the world with great success.
Our products are created in conjunction with our production partners, with the right combination of ingredients, under strict quality standards, not tested on animals and made here in Christchurch. Products are subjected to testing in a world-class testing laboratory, also here in Christchurch.
We have cultivated an ethos that prioritizes environmental responsibility alongside “customer satisfaction”, to revel the glow of Natural Beauty skincare results. We believe that everyone deserves skincare that not only feels luxurious but also aligns with their values.
